About the Owners

In 2006, when Cathy and George bought their first cottage in Colonial Beach, they invited family and friends to visit;  many fell in love with Colonial Beach! Family and friends included young and old alike; they have returned year after year to enjoy the small town charm and the opportunity to gather and relax as a family and friends.

Beachcomber I – Hawthorn: In 2020, Beachcomber I was sold, we thank all the many guests that we have met and who have discovered Colonial Beach through staying at this wonderful cottage. 2010. In 2010, Cathy's sister's family and George's brother's family joined together to purchase the Beachcomber I on Hawthorn. After extensive renovation to this historic house.  They welcomed the first guests Memorial Day Weekend of 2010. It has been rewarding to be able to host many families and share the Beach with them. Each year we re-invest in the house to make sure our guests have a wonderful vacation.

Beachcomber II – Wilder: 2012. In 2011, a childhood friend of Cathy's alerted her to look at the for-sale listing of what is now Beachcomber II on Wilder. Cathy and George along with George's brother's family once again, said, let's do it and undertook a renovation; not as intense as Beachcomber I; but pretty comprehensive. In April of 2012 we welcomed our first guest.

Beachcomber III – Lossing: 2014.  In the fall of 2013 found Beachcomber III - The Riverview. This house, when purchased was a shell.  Cathy and George with the help of great contractor. Re-imagined this house and transformed it into a sunny, open house with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, on one level with a spacious living room, den, kitchen and eating area.  In July of 2014, they welcomed their first guests. This house has some unique features, enjoys a stunning view of the river through Eleanor Park, and a location that is away from the "action" of town and nicely situated with a waterview and a short walk to Castlewood Beach, Park, and public boat launch.

Beachcomber IV – Irving: 2018. Cathy always wanted a riverfront house and when this historic riverfront farmhouse and guesthouse came up for sale November of 2016, she jumped on it! They settled on the house in January.  The house needed extensive work and after 17 months of renovations that entailed bringing it down to the studs, relocating a kitchen, stairs, new plumbing, electric, insulation…so in essence rebuilt. We were able to refurbished the existing hardwood floors.  In June of 2018; we welcomed our first guest.  The views of the river are breathtaking from all rooms, but can’t be beat from the year-round sun-room.  Come enjoy this 3 bedroom 2.5 bath riverfront house…it is a gem!

Thanks for looking and considering one of our cottages for a get-away or vacation in Colonial Beach and the Northern Neck!
